The 2011 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award nominees have been announed; and here they are:
- Gemma Arterton
- Andrew Garfield
- Tom Hardy
- Aaron Johnson
- Emma Stone
I have got to say BAFTA have got it spot on, aside from one exception. I don’t know why Gemma Arterton made it into this list. I’ve loved her in other films but Tamara Drewe was movie-tripe which should’ve been on TV and Clash Of The Titans was remarkably unremarkeable. The rest of the nominees are more then worthy for being included. Andrew Garfield was terrific in Never Let Me Go and is likely to be nominated for his part in the critcally acclaimed The Social Network. Tom Hardy owned Indie-film Bronson and gave Leonardo DiCaprio a run for his money as the forger Eames in Inception. Aaron Johnson has also been on a high lately; hilarious and charming in Kick-Ass and terrifyingly disturbing in Chatroom. As for Emma Stone, she was fabulous, witty and comical in Easy A, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. I can’t say much about Zombieland but she has caught the eye of many now that she is in the Spider-Man reboot alongisder her fellow nominee Andrew Garfield.
