Aston Martin One-77

To some people, the late-00’s recession was nothing but a minor itch. And these people are more likely than not to be the clientèle of the luxury car manufacturer, Aston Martin.

But their latest addition to their range, the One-77, pushes the boat out even further in terms of luxury and exclusivity. And by god, it’s a stunner.

The car is essentially the steroid-abusing sibling of the V12 Vantage. It boasts a 7.3 Litre V12 engine and according to Aston Martin, will be the most powerful ‘naturally aspirated’ engine in the world. (Air is drawn into the engine via atmospheric pressure, opposed to the forced injection by either a turbo or supercharger). Whilst the company have only given draft figures, the engine is expected to produce more than 750 bhp (maximum). Certainly quite a step from the V12 Vantage (at a maximum of 510 bhp). The top speed is estimated to be around 200-220mph and doing 0-60mph takes 3.5 seconds.  The car is certainly a nippy one, no doubt assisted by the aerodynamic design and deployable rear spoiler. It will be interesting to see how it fares against a Bugatti Veyron (although, personally, the crown will still belong to the Veyron).

Whilst there are no decent interior shots, one will expects it to be an exquisite, hand-crafted delight, as is the case with the rest of the Aston Martins. But the question that remains, how much of our children’s inheritance will one have to spend to own one?

Whilst Aston haven’t released a final price, the cost of owning this beauty is estimated to be a upwards of £1 000 000. Luxury brands always come with a luxury price tag, and Aston Martin oozes luxury in buckets. The 77 suffix refers to the number of cars the company will make of this type, and this exclusivity will no doubt contribute to the price tag. God only knows what it would cost to insure it. But what is known is that it’ll certainly be out of the price range of pretty much everyone reading this.

To some people, £1000k is spare change and will no doubt be enticed to purchase one. For the rest of us, it’ll be more realistic to dream of owning Aston’s ‘value range’.
