Our Predictions: Golden Globe Nominees For TV

In terms of the Golden Globe nominees for TV, there is a host of exciting talent up for nominations.

For the big awards, Best TV series drama lies between either Mad Men or Boardwalk Empire. My hunch is Boardwalk Empire might just snatch it because of its freshness and originality. I want to see Best TV series Comedy to go to Glee but it faces tough competition from Modern Family and The Big C. 30 Rock has won this award on countless occasions and although it hosted some terrific guest stars (Matt Damon and Julianne Moore to name a few) it wont put up much of a challenge.

Best mini-Series or motion Picture Made for TV is an interesting category. At last years Emmy Awards the prize went to Temple Grandin and recently The Pacific took home Best TV movie at the Critics Choice Awards.

The debate lies in the acting nomination lists. For Best actress in a Mini-Series/TV Movie, Claire Danes looks to be the front-runner. For leading actress in a TV drama I suspect Kyra Sedgwick is favourite considering she won for The Closer at last years Emmys. Leading Actress in a comedy series will probably go to Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie. Tina Fey has won enough of these. Also, hopefully Best supporting actress will be picked up by Jane Lynch, who is always hilarious in Glee.

The gents categories are tough. Bryan Cranston is the one to beat for Best actor in a TV series drama but Steve Buscemi may ruin his night. Hopefully Al Pacino takes home Best actor in a mini-Series or TV movie. Given that this is Steve Carrell’s last season of The Office I would like him to finally win Best actor in a TV series musical or comedy. But Jim Parsons will present the most offense. And as much as I’d like Chris Colfer to win Best supporting actor it will probably go to Eric Stonestreet for Modern Family.
